General Product Description
What we will make for you is a scale replica exactly the same as the above image and in the dimensions referred to next to the model.
To help, below is an image of a similar type of model to the one advertised above that we have made before which shows you the detail and quality of finish that we achieve once we copy this aircraft in all its true splendor.
“You never really own a PlaneArts model – you merely look after it for the next generation”
For almost 20 years PlaneArts have only been listing models on our website that we have made before. Once we are asked to make a model that is new to our normal procedure is to have it photographed and listed on our website. Over time we have realised that we have been losing out on an opportunity to offer our customer base the chance to purchase specific models that are sometimes more difficult or impossible to find on the web. As such beginning March 2024 we have now launched a new Product Category using images of a real aircraft (using non copyrighted images where available on the web) that will be transformed into an exact replica model (if you require another livery or markings for this type of aircraft we can also do this for you). To give our new customers the confidence to order from us we have also included in this listing a picture wherever possible of a similar type and size of model that we have made before so its possible to see the level of likeness, detail and quality that we achieve.
As with every PlaneArts model the customer receives regular updates on our factory progress of the model and images of the final replica before shipping so that any last minute changes or adjustments can be made if necessary. If you want the same type of model shown here but with a different livery or markings we can also do that at the same price. If space or budget is a consideration we can also make a smaller size of the model. Just message us for more information.
All these type of “one off” or “bespoke” models are painstakingly hand painted and hand carved out of solid kiln dried renewable mahogany wood by our highly experienced and talented craftsmen at our factory in the Philippines close to the original Clark Air Base on Luzon Island. Scaled from an exact blueprint, this meticulously detailed scale model will be manufactured and precisely engineered to exacting specifications and will be cherished by yourself and your future generations to come. As with most of our other models these are made to order and production is currently running at about 9-10 weeks.
Exploring the Canadair CL-44D4-6 Wrangler Blue Bell: A Forgotten Giant
The Canadair CL-44D4-6, affectionately known as the Wrangler Blue Bell, represents a unique chapter in the history of aviation. Developed by Canadair, a cornerstone of Canadian aerospace innovation, the CL-44D4-6 was a derivative of the CL-44 cargo aircraft, which itself was based on the Bristol Britannia airliner. This aircraft was specifically designed to meet the logistical demands of the mid-20th century, combining robust engineering with versatile cargo handling capabilities.
Design and Development:
The CL-44D4-6 Wrangler Blue Bell was developed to enhance the operational efficiency and cargo capacity of its predecessors. With a swing-tail design, the aircraft could open its rear section to facilitate the loading and unloading of large and cumbersome cargo, a feature that was revolutionary at the time. This design was instrumental in reducing turnaround times on the ground and made the CL-44D4-6 highly attractive for military and civilian cargo operations.
Operational History:
The operational history of the CL-44D4-6 Wrangler Blue Bell is marked by its versatility and reliability. Primarily used by cargo airlines and air forces, the aircraft excelled in roles that ranged from strategic airlift missions to humanitarian aid deliveries. Its ability to operate in diverse environments—from remote airstrips to major international airports—underscored its reputation as a workhorse.
Unique Features:
What set the CL-44D4-6 apart from other cargo aircraft of its time were its innovative design features. The swing-tail mechanism not only facilitated easier loading but also allowed for the quick conversion of the aircraft from a cargo carrier to a troop transporter or an emergency response vehicle. Additionally, its four Rolls-Royce Tyne turboprop engines provided powerful thrust, enabling it to carry substantial payloads over considerable distances.
Legacy and Impact:
Though not as widely recognized as other historical aircraft, the legacy of the Canadair CL-44D4-6 Wrangler Blue Bell is significant. It demonstrated the potential of Canadian aerospace engineering and contributed to the evolution of cargo transport aviation. Today, while few CL-44D4-6s remain in operation, their impact on the development of cargo handling and aircraft design continues to influence modern aviation.
Conclusion:
The Canadair CL-44D4-6 Wrangler Blue Bell remains a fascinating subject for aviation enthusiasts and historians alike. Its contribution to the aerospace industry, particularly in the realm of cargo transportation, highlights a period of innovation and adaptation that helped shape the future of air travel. As we look back on the achievements of the Wrangler Blue Bell, it stands as a testament to the ingenuity and spirit of mid-20th-century aviation.
