General Product Description
We keep in stock what we refer to as “blanks” which are models finished to the stage of primer painting so that they are ready have the final chosen livery or markings applied. By doing this we can slightly speed up the overall production time of the model. All you need to do is to purchase the “blank” version and then to email us images of what airline livery, markings or colors we should apply. You will note that we charge slightly more for these “ready to paint” models due to the fact that our setup costs for model liveries we have not made before are higher than for those we have done before.
Once you have chosen your own version PlaneArts will copy your choice or design exactly as it is on the real aircraft. It will come as standard with a robust, durable base or stand which is available in a variety of different finishes designed to match your own personal requirements including solid wood, wood with polished metal supports or adjustable wood wall mount and will be ready within about 8-10 weeks from placement of order.
The model will be made of the finest kiln dried renewable mahogany wood (commonly known as Lauan or Meranti) which has undergone many stages of carving and meticulous and careful sanding giving the beautiful, finished museum quality masterpiece. Many collectors and model connoisseurs demonstrate their preference for genuine handmade and hand painted mahogany wood models rather than plastic or die cast (diecast) alternatives due to the overall look and totally different feel of the item - we trust you will find the same. We can however, if required produce the same model in Solid Cast Resin so just click and contact us for further information. Our craftsmen and gifted artisans ensure that our finely handcrafted model airplanes match the precise blueprint details of the original aircraft.
We can also make bespoke scale replicas of any other private / civil commercial airliner or airliners, helicopter, glider, gliders with engines, military jet, warplane jets, propeller warplanes, biplane, triplane, tail fin, spacecraft, rocket or NASA model you require in any airline, military or civilian livery or colors. We also produce model airships, blimp, dirigible, blimps, boat and ship collectibles. Wall plaque or seal for military, government or private customers. Again, by clicking here to contact us just let us know exactly what you need.

The Boeing 747-400: An Icon of Aviation Mastery
The Boeing 747-400 stands as a towering achievement in the annals of aviation history, representing not just an evolution of its storied 747 lineage but also marking an era where travel and technology intersected to shrink the world. Launched in the late 1980s as an enhancement over its predecessors, the 747-400 was designed to meet the growing demands of global connectivity, offering unprecedented range, capacity, and efficiency. Here, we delve into the key features that have cemented the 747-400’s legacy as an icon of aviation mastery.
Revolutionary Design and Capacity:
The 747-400’s design is an exquisite blend of form and function, maintaining the distinctive hump of its predecessors while introducing aerodynamic refinements and technological advancements. Its wingspan was extended by six meters compared to the 747-300, featuring winglets that reduced drag and significantly improved fuel efficiency. This aircraft could accommodate up to 524 passengers in a typical two-class layout, with configurations varying widely among airlines to include luxurious first-class suites and expansive business class seating, showcasing its versatility and appeal to diverse market segments.
Advanced Avionics and Performance:
At the heart of the 747-400’s operational excellence were its advanced avionics and flight systems. Equipped with state-of-the-art navigation, weather radar, and autopilot systems, it offered enhanced safety and reliability, setting new standards for international air travel. Its performance was equally impressive, powered by four high-bypass turbofan engines from manufacturers like Rolls-Royce, General Electric, and Pratt & Whitney. These engines provided the thrust necessary for the 747-400 to boast a maximum range of approximately 7,260 nautical miles (13,450 kilometers), making long-haul flights more accessible and comfortable than ever before.
Economic and Operational Impact:
The Boeing 747-400 not only revolutionized air travel with its technical capabilities but also had a profound economic impact. By significantly lowering the cost per seat-mile, it enabled airlines to offer more competitive fares, thereby democratizing international travel. Furthermore, its reliability and efficiency contributed to lower operating costs for carriers, despite the complexities associated with maintaining such a sophisticated aircraft. Its cargo variant, the 747-400F, became a workhorse of international logistics, capable of carrying substantial freight volumes over long distances, thus playing a pivotal role in the globalization of trade.
Legacy and Influence:
The legacy of the Boeing 747-400 is measured not only in its technological achievements but also in its influence on subsequent aircraft design and aviation infrastructure. It necessitated the expansion and redesign of airports worldwide to accommodate its size and operational requirements, leading to the modernization of air travel facilities and services. Although production of the 747-400 ended in 2009, its presence in the fleets of major airlines and cargo carriers underscores its enduring appeal and reliability.
As we witness the gradual phasing out of the 747-400 in favor of more fuel-efficient, next-generation aircraft, it’s important to recognize its indelible impact on shaping the future of aviation. The Boeing 747-400 not only bridged continents and cultures but also exemplified human ingenuity and the relentless pursuit of progress. Its legacy as an icon of aviation mastery will continue to inspire generations to come, long after the last 747-400 takes to the skies for its final journey.
